Access Statement for Highlea



Located in the Dorset countryside about 6 miles (10kms) from the delightful town of Wimborne Minster. The property is on an elevated position with views to our local "Folly" of Horton Tower.
There is one letting bedroom with ensuite bathroom, situated on the ground floor, comprising one double bed and one single bed. There is a sofa bed in the lounge which can sleep two further guests. The shower has a step about 6" high (15cms). The lounge and kitchen are for exclusive use of our guests.
There is a step into the property about 6" high (15cms) for which we have access to ramps if neccessary.

  • The nearest railway station is Bournemouth approx 10 miles away (18 kms).
  • We have one bus a week on a Tuesday to Salisbury.
  • There are few pavements in the area due to our rural location.


Car Parking and Arrival

  • Parking is available on the large gravel driveway which slopes gently to the concreted access to the property. There is security lighting to the driveway. There is one step into the house approx 6" high (15cms) for which ramps are available. Door widths are a minimum of 29" (74 cms) and assistance can be given with luggage. Mobility battery charging can be carried out if required.


Welcome Area

  • Guests are welcomed at the door, one step here, and taken straight into the accommodation which is all level.The kitchen floor is Laminate and the lounge and bedroom have short pile carpet. The bathroom has an underfloor heated tiled floor.



  • There is one bedroom with one double and one single bed. There is a sofa bed in the lounge. Furniture in bedroom and/or lounge could be removed or rearranged if required.
  • A smoke detector is fitted in the room.


Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets (Ensuite )

  • The bathroom has a shower cubicle with a step approx 6" high (15cms), wash basin 32" high (81cms) and lavatory 16" high (40cms).


Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors

  • There are no halls, stairs or landings.


Public Areas - Lounge

  • The lounge is for the exclusive use of our guests. The lounge is off the kitchen area and has three arm chairs, sofa bed, bookcase,  and Television. There are patio doors to the garden with a small step on the inside. There is a larger step down into the garden.
  • Low energy lighting is fitted were possible. A smoke detector is fitted in both the lounge & kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave and two ring hob, kettle, fridge, freezer small oven,cutlery & crockery. 


Future Plans

  • We are planning to upgrade the kitchen in 2014 .We are constantly looking to maintain and improve on our high standard.
